Hilton

Redevelopment of a 37 Hectare former Ministry of Defence site at Hilton in South Derbyshire. This mixed-use project to the north of Burton upon Trent is now in its final stages of implementation.

Description

Hilton is an expanded village on the A50 to the South West of Derby. To the South of the original village, developer St. Modwen Properties has been regenerating the former Ministry of Defence Central Vehicle Storage Depot. The site dates from World War 2 and has been used for a variety of open storage and warehousing operations.

This long-term project has seen the construction of extensive areas of new housing, a local centre and community facilities on predominantly brownfield land. As a result, the village has grown dramatically to become the second largest settlement in South Derbyshire with a population of some 7,000 people.

A number of housebuilders are on site completing the final residential phases including Persimmon Homes and St Modwen Homes. A range of new commercial premises have also been constructed, predominantly small and medium-sized industrial/warehouse units.

Investment Opportunities

The remaining employment plots are being brought forward for the development of further small and medium-sized units. There are also proposals for residential and commercial development on neighbouring land.
